FAQ

What levels of French classes do you offer?

We offer French classes at every level, from complete beginners to advanced speakers. Whether you've never studied French before or you're picking it back up after years away, there's a class that meets you where you are.

How do I know which level is right for me?

We make it easy — just take our free placement test and we'll point you to the right class. If you're a complete beginner, no test needed. You're welcome to start at level one.

How long does it take to learn French?

It depends on your starting point, your goals, and how consistently you study. Most students notice real progress within a few months of regular classes. Reaching conversational fluency typically takes a couple of years — but you'll be using the language long before that.

What's the difference between group classes and private lessons?

Group classes are great for building fluency in a social setting, learning from peers, and staying motivated through a structured schedule. Private lessons offer flexibility and a curriculum built entirely around your goals — ideal if you're working toward something specific or prefer a faster pace.

Do you offer classes for kids and teens?

Yes. We have dedicated French programs for children ages 6 to 17, designed to make language learning fun and age-appropriate. Kids build skills through engaging activities, and teens follow a structured progression that prepares them for real-world fluency.

Are classes in-person, online, or both?

We offer in-person classes at our Miami location and online courses. Contact us to find out what's currently available and which format works best for your schedule.

How often do classes meet?

Most group classes meet once or twice a week. Private lessons can be scheduled at a frequency that works for you. Consistency is key to progress, and our team can help you find a rhythm that fits your life.

Do you offer classes year-round?

Yes, we run classes throughout the year. We also offer a Summer Special program for kids and teens ages 8 to 15 — a great way to keep learning during the school break or get a head start before the new year.

Do you offer anything beyond French language classes?

Yes — Alliance Française Miami Metro is a full cultural center, not just a language school. Alongside French classes, we host a rich calendar of events celebrating French culture year-round, from film screenings and book clubs to community gatherings. We also offer French cooking classes led by an experienced chef, held monthly in Miami. It's a great way to experience the culture while practicing a new language in a relaxed, social setting.
